Bio:

The Asylum Project Volume One is finished and being mastered as we speak!

When all else fails, do it yourself. Thats been the unspoken motto of the aspiring emcee known as Mat-E-Mat. With humble beginnings in a music career that spans close to a decade now, Mat-E-Mat is know for taking the road less traveled forging the way for the label Darkside Records handed to him by its founder DTQ.

One half of the group known as The Hectic Cillaz (THC), Mat-E-Mat started out recording on home computers mixing and mastering the groups material himself. No formal training plus an ear for the unique shaped the groups albums "The Southern Darkness LP", the "Storm Ends Smoke Arises EP" and the "In Your System LP" released over the years of 2004 until 2007.

But please dont think this was just a cake endeavor to record these albums. Legal troubles and distance between the member of THC, Lambo was living in Cincinatti while Mat-E-Mat resided in Bowling Green KY. This wasnt a deterrant, Mat-E-Mat was known to make the journey up north and back home to record material with Lambo in one day putting untold miles and wear and tear on his vehicle.

Not one to just be in the limelight, Mat-E-Mat worked behind the scenes as well putting his mixing and mastering magic to the earliest material recorded by Xcess, a key figure in the early years of the Darkside Records empires foundation.

The group also released a DVD entitled "Darkside Soldiers" which featured music videos, live footage and interviews showing what it was that earned their name noteriety in their local scene. Raucous live shows and hardcore lyrics wove a path of destruction thru the ears within hearing distance.

During the years with the duo THC there was a work ethic not seen too often in the underground rap scene. Guerilla promotion and booking were keystones to their legacy. Flyers were always on hand and in your face. It was hard not to know the name of The Hectic Cillaz.

THC disbanded in 2007 and Mat-E-Mat wasnt going to let it be a set back. Rather he used it as fuel to the fire to forge ahead. His hard work had not gone unnoticed. Local professional studio BG Chophouse was so impressed their engineer Ryan Adkins approached him to offer to record his upcoming record titled "The Asylum Project Volume One".

2008 was the year to focus and record the album he states will be the "voice of new age aggression".

But that doesnt mean the self described "Sinister Beast" just sat in a studio. In 2008 thru 2009 Mat-E-Mat started a string of high profile shows. His credits include opening for such acts as Project Born more than once, Esham, Hed (PE) from Suburban Noize Records and the Insane Clown Posse.

To date "The Asylum Project Volume One" has finally wrapped in its recording stage and is finally being mixed and mastered set for an early 2010 release. People should take note of this up and comer from the unlikely hometown of Bowling Green KY. You can rest assure that the underground will be shaken to its very core in the years to come...
