  • Bio

In 2005, a few years after moving to london from his small hometown in Sweden, singer songwriter Fred Bjorkvall, through chance at a gig at Fortress Studios, met guitarist Geoff Gamlen. Only days after their first meeting they were rehearsing together at Gamlen's north london studio and begun shaping the powerful yet devastatingly fragile sound that signifies the band today. After a year of playing gigs in and around London as a duo they felt that something was missing in the dynamics and so they recruited drummer Matt Bell. He acted as a catalyst and mid 2007 they felt ready to start the recording of their debut album. They joined forces with a friend, midlands based producer and bass player Nigel Clark. With Clark, the perfect tone was created for Fred's hymnal vocals to a backdrop of delicate acoustic and electric instrumentation. Along with a previously recorded instrumental track (Flatland) they put the first 2 songs recorded with Nigel onto an EP and released it on digital download in April 2007 with the track listing , Electric Shock, Polar Winter and Flatland. In March 2008 the whole album was fully recorded and mixed. The 11 tracks were sent out in various directions of the music industry and they also rekindled communication with indie label Rocket Girl. As a result, at the end of April they signed to to the label. Shortly after they also recruited Liverpudlian bass player Jay Rigby who immediately proved to be the perfect choice for the band and added yet another dimension to the sound both live and in the studio. In Feb 2011 as a four piece collaboration they released their second LP 'Pretty Ugly', also on Rocket Girl Records.
