Biografie

Schoolyard Herons is een energieke en explosieve band uit Twenterand. De band bestaat uit: gitarist en zanger Eric Zwiers, bassist Jaap Schrijver en drummer Terry Bloeme. Deze driemansformatie produceert stevige Post-Grunge met catchy melodieën.

Een indicatie geven van ‘de sound’ is niet gemakkelijk. Dit komt door de vele invloeden uit verschillende muziekstijlen. Inspiratie wordt o. a. gehaald uit materiaal van bands als: Queens Of The Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Incubus en Limp Bizkit.

De rockband zit momenteel in een extreem productieve fase. Na een lange radiostilte waarin veel materiaal is geschreven knalt Schoolyard Herons nu de oefenruimte en je speakers uit!

Met nog maar negen maanden onderweg dook Schoolyard Herons de studio in, om hun eerste EP met de passende naam ‘Nine Months’ te realiseren. Er zijn vijf uiteenlopende songs opgenomen en op de spreekwoordelijke plaat gestampt. ‘Nine Months’ is ook te beluisteren op de website en Hyves.

Schoolyard Herons was het afgelopen festivalseizoen duidelijk aanwezig. Ze stonden op het Havenwerk Festival in Deventer, PedroPicoPop, Lil' Hill, Broekrock, Halve finale Plankenkoorts en hebben het Zomeroffensief in Atak gewonnen.

Biography

Schoolyard Herons is an energetic and explosive sounding three-piece band from the Netherlands, consisting of: Eric Zwiers (vocals/guitar) Jaap Schrijver (Bass/backing vocals) and Terry Bloeme (Drums/backing vocals). With heavy sounding guitars and catchy melodies, the band combines the best of two worlds. This results in a contagious post-grunge kinda sound.

The band finds inspiration in many kinds of music, but mainly in work from mid/late 90's rockbands they grew up with. Among them e.g. Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age, Limp Bizkit and Foo Fighters.

As of the first moment Schoolyard Herons was a very productive band. Within the first nine months the band wrote a decent set of SH-worthy songs and headed to the studio to capture them on tape. This resulted in a stunning five track counting EP called 'Nine Months'.
